Daicel Chemical Industries, Ltd. (DCI) develops and sells airbag inflators. These inflators are the core parts of the automotive airbag system, and their development has been based on the accumulation of advances in pyrotechnic and chemical technology. In 1988, DCI established the subsidiary, Daicel Safety Systems (DSS), which manufactures inflators. In 1989, DSS launched its first product and, since then, has been competitively improving, manufacturing and distributing inflators around the world. In addition to DSS, DCI has already established Daicel Safety Systems America (DSSA) and Daicel Safety Systems Thailand (DSST). Furthermore, DCI will set up Daicel Safety Systems Europe (DSSE) and Daicel Safety Systems China (DSSC) in 2006. DCI can provide inflators for driver, front passenger, thorax, curtain and knee airbags, and prepare various types of inflators, such as pyrotechnic, hybrid and stored gas inflators. Regarding environmental protection, DCI has already begun to take an active role in treating and recycling inflators from scrapped cars. We will be ready to fully comply with the Law on Recycling End-of-Life vehicles. Our objectives by 2010 are as follows: 1. To become the No.1 Auto Airbag Inflator Manufacturer in the world. 2. To obtain 20% of the world Inflator Market Share.
