Since its establishment in 1954 and the start of the manufacturing of single-base gunpowder, the Harima Plant has developed products related to national security by combining its technologies for organic synthesis, polymer chemistry, plastic molding, and assembly. The plant produces a variety of gunpowder from nitrocellulose and engages in dedicated research and development of next generation products. Gunpowder is also used in plastic shotgun cartridges for sports and leisure applications such as hunting and clay pigeon target shooting in the civil area. In addition to gunpowder, the company manufactures composite propellants and the rocket motors for missiles based on propellants. The plant also manufactures various pyrotechnic devices and pilot emergency-escape systems to safely eject pilots with the power of propellants.
